First Kiss Excerpt
He
drew her closer, holding her head tucked into his neck. “It doesn’t matter what
you do, Butterfly, or what you did.” He intentionally used the endearment. To
convince her. To convince himself. “I could never hate you.”
She
hiccupped. He stroked his hand down her back. She let go of his wrist and
rested her hand flat against his chest. Gray breathed her in. For long moments
they stayed like that, their breaths kissing each other, the music soft around
them. Then the yearning began to grow, their intimacy turning into a familiar
ache.
“Gray.”
It was a soft whisper.
He
slid his fingers into her fiery hair and tilted back her head. Her gaze was
filled with longing.
“Gray,”
she mouthed silently.
He
settled his mouth over hers. For one interminable second, she didn’t respond.
Gray touched his tongue to her bottom lip. And like a genie rubbing a magic
lamp, they parted. Gently, he ran his tongue over her mouth, nibbling and
kissing. Her breath hitched, and electricity sizzled through his body.
“Zoey,”
he groaned.
She
pushed up against him, her mouth opening to invite him in. He couldn’t resist.
Gliding his tongue past her lips, he searched for more of her taste. Her tongue
welcomed him, kissing up against his own. And still, he couldn’t get enough.
Their tongues entwined, dancing and teasing, licking and savoring. Gray
shuddered when her hands stroked up his neck. She kept going until they were
buried in his hair. He pulled her flush against him and deepened their kiss.
So fragile. And so fucking
perfect.
He
kissed her until they were both breathless, clinging to each other. Her need
matched his, a burning desire that ignited his own. The fire was going to
consume them, and they weren’t ready.
He wasn’t ready.
